The ruins of Wojaczów Castle (German Burg Vogel (ge) sang ; also Konradswalde Castle ) are located on the southeastern outskirts of Grzędy ( Konradswalde ), a district of the Czarny Bór ( Black Forest ) municipality in the Wałbrzyski powiat in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. The castle is ten kilometers southeast of Kamienna Góra ( Landeshut ).

history

The complex, built in a lowland as the Wasserburg Conradiswalde , was first mentioned in 1324 and later referred to as Vogelgesang Castle . It was probably built by Duke Bolko I and, like the neighboring castles of Fürstenstein , Hornschloss , Neuhaus and Kynast, served to secure the border against Bohemia . It was probably originally intended to block the route from Politz in Bohemia via Friedland or Schömberg through the Lässig valley to the Silesian plain. With the marriage of Princess Anna of Schweidnitz in 1353 to the Bohemian King and later Emperor Charles IV , Vogelgesang Castle lost its strategic importance.

After becoming a robber barons nest, the castle was stormed by Duke Bolko II in 1355 . He handed it over to the von Hackenborn brothers ( von Honkenberg ) together with the associated Konradswalde lordship . Both belonged to the Duchy of Schweidnitz and together with it came to the Crown of Bohemia in 1368 . Since 1379 the castle was owned by Hermann von Czettritz the Elder . Ä., Who was court master of the Duchess Agnes . His grandson of the same name Hermann von Czettritz the Elder. J. sympathized with the Hussites , which is why a Wroclaw mercenary army partially destroyed Vogelgesang Castle in 1437. It was not rebuilt; Remains of walls, walls and moats have been preserved.

The Konradswaldau manor remained in the possession of the von Czettritz family until 1830. In that year it was acquired by Otto Freiherr von Zedlitz-Neukirch together with Schwarzwaldau . In 1851 Konradswaldau came to his son-in-law Bernhard von Portatius, whose descendants remained until 1945.
