The powiat Wałbrzyski is a powiat ( district ) in the southern Polish Voivodeship of Lower Silesia . The district town is the town of Wałbrzych (German: Waldenburg ), which is independent and does not belong to the powiat itself. The district has around 180,000 inhabitants on an area of 514.18 km².

Neighboring districts are the powiat Świdnicki and the powiat Jaworski in the north, the powiat Dzierżoniowski and the powiat Kłodzki in the east, the powiat Wałbrzyski borders the Czech Republic in the south and the powiat Kamiennogórski in the west .
