history

In 1738 Heinrich Ernst Freiherr von Czettritz -Neuhaus built a castle in the area of what would later become Ober Waldenburg, around which a settlement was established, which in 1723 was referred to as the "new community" and a year later for the first time as "Ober Waldenburg". In 1738 the von Czettritz family sold Ober Waldenburg to the Count Hochberg auf Fürstenstein . After the First Silesian War in 1742, Ober Waldenburg and almost all of Silesia fell to Prussia . In 1818 JG Alberti founded Europe's first mechanical flax yarn spinning mill in Ober Waldenburg, which was taken over by Landeshuter Methner & Frahne AG in 1883 .

Since 1874, the rural community of Ober Waldenburg was the seat of the administrative district of the same name , which also included the manor district of Ober Waldenburg, which was incorporated into the city of Waldenburg in 1921. In 1925, 4536 people lived in Oberwaldenburg. On April 1, 1934, Ober Waldenburg was incorporated into the Waldenburg district, with which Ober Waldenburg shared its further history. After the transition to Poland, it was renamed "Podgórze" in 1945 and continued to be connected to the town of Wałbrzych ( Waldenburg ) as a district next to the neighboring municipality of Dittersbach .
