Nynäs Castle

The Nynäs Castle is located in the Swedish municipality of Trosa near the Baltic coast .

history

The property on which the castle stands was already an estate in the 14th century. It is believed that the current main building was built around 1650 under Erik Gyllenstierna. The manor house got its current appearance around 1860. Among the well-known owners of the estate are Reichsdrost Bo Jonsson Grip in the 14th century, the noble family Gyllenstierna in the 17th century and the Stockholm city councilor Johan August Gripenstedt around 1860. The last private owner was Baron Johan Gripenstedt. He sold the castle and its surroundings in 1984 to the province of Södermanland County . The inventory was bought entirely from the state art museums. The castle is shown to interested visitors in the summer. The associated fields are cultivated by the provincial agricultural school.

Facility

The main building was designed in such a way that administration rooms and apartments for the servants were on the ground floor, the middle floor was the parade floor and the upper floor, which was only fully furnished at the beginning of the 19th century, contained guest rooms. The stucco ceiling in the middle floor is particularly worth seeing .
