Röversdorf Castle

history

In the 14th century a residential tower protected by a wall and moat was built under the von Uechritz family. This residential tower was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century. Under the von Nimptsch family, the residential tower was extended at the beginning of the 16th century to a Renaissance - era three-winged fortress , plastered with sgraffito veining.

In 1603 a. a. a stairwell was built in the courtyard.

Building

The former residential tower stands at the northwest corner of the complex. A coat of arms for von Nimptsch is located above the eastern entrance. In the south facade there are three portals , a round arch portal, two rectangular walls and a bricked-up pointed arch portal. The south wing can be reached via a small bridge over the former moat . Its portal bears the coats of arms of the von Scheliha, von Weyrach, von Zedlitz as well as an unknown coat of arms, as well as a Renaissance ancestry with the coats of arms of those of von Lest, von Redern, D. v. P. (unknown), von Schaffgotsch, von Zedlitz, D. v. R. (unknown), von Brauchitsch, and von Schindel. Inside the part of the building there are vaulted rooms and a remarkable star-vaulted window niche in a small hall. In the east wing there is a hall laid out in 1750 with stuccoed flower garlands.
