history

Ribbekardt was the estate of the Camminer bishops in the Middle Ages . At the beginning of the 15th century it was owned by the Knights of Kretlow, at the beginning of the 16th century it belonged to the von Borck family, and a hundred years later it belonged to Peter von Wohlde. In 1606 Christoph von Mildenitz was lord of Ribbekardt, who was also canon at Camminer Cathedral. The latter had a manor house built in 1620 , the remains of which are still visible in the basement of today's castle. In the first half of the 18th century, the von Edling family had the manor house converted into a two-story baroque palace. Around 1800 the estate came into possession of Heinrich Wilhelm von Lettow. In the middle of the 19th century, Ferdinand von Lettow had the baroque palace rebuilt in a neo-Gothic style and a third farmyard built.

In 1901, Fritz Röchling acquired the estate and had it decorated with neo-Gothic elements and extended to the south with a window axis. The representative ballroom received an illusionistic ceiling painting by Albert Wirth . A two-story wing with a tower was added to the north facade. Later Mr. Möller from Gdansk became the owner. After the Second World War, a unit of the Red Army was stationed on the estate. From 1962 to 1974 the castle was used as a school.
