Roquetaillade Castle

The Roquetaillade Castle in Mazères , a French commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was built from the 14th century. The castle in the southwest of the municipality has been classified as a monument historique since 2002 .

The castle was built as a fortified complex on a rectangular floor plan with four corner towers and a donjon in the middle. In the 19th century, it was extensively renovated under Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and his students between 1860 and 1870.

Viollet-le-Duc created the interior with furniture, chimneys and wall paintings.
