Schönjohnsdorf Castle

Schönjohnsdorf Castle ( Polish: Zamek w Witostowicach ) is a castle in Witostowice (Schönjohnsdorf) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and is one of the most beautiful and best preserved castle complexes in Silesia from the 16th century.

In the Middle Ages, a moated castle , occupied in 1361, was built on the site . This was expanded in the 16th century in the style of the Palazzo in fortezza , probably under that of Ziertotin . The builder was Giovanni Bernardo. Upstream bastions were created, which can still be seen today.

The round tower in the southwest corner and the semicircular tower in the northwest corner of the castle are among the oldest parts of the complex that have survived to this day.
