Striese Castle

Striese Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Strzeszowie ) is a castle in Strzeszów ( Striese ) in the rural municipality of Wisznia Mała ( Wiese ) in the Powiat Trzebnicki ( Trebnitz district ) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland . Historically it belonged to the Duchy of Oels .

history

In "Streseuic" a manor is occupied for the year 1321 , which the dukes of Oels gave as a fief . This was acquired in 1559 by Wroclaw Governor Niklas von Rehdiger as a pledge and in 1567 as property. He then built a castle with a moat on the site of the manor. This was destroyed by the Russian army in the Seven Years' War . After 1761 it was rebuilt with two floors on an L-shaped floor plan. A three-storey baroque round tower was built in the corner between the wings and a balcony above the portal. The interiors were modernized around 1800. 1900–1902 it was expanded and rebuilt.

After the end of the war in 1945 and the transition to Poland, the castle served as the headquarters of the Soviet Army . It was also a meeting point for German officers who had been captured in Breslau . A hospital for the Soviet Army was housed there until 1947, after which it was handed over to the state farm as a state-owned property . In 1995 it was privatized.
