The valley stone castle is a castle on Jenzig at Jena .

history

The floor book of the city of Jena from 1406 mentions on page 163 an Albrecht Tümpling with goods at Jenzig undir and bie the Talensteyne . No buildings at the site of Gut Thalstein can be seen on corresponding plans until 1846. The first owner is proven to be Eduard Steinert, who has been leasing the fruit from his land since 1841 and who organized a timber auction on Thalstein in 1853. His newspaper advertisements for the sale of agricultural products and a vineyard can be traced until mid-1853, until he offered the property for sale again in 1858. After that, there was said to have been a manufacture for wooden pencils on the site. Job advertisements were published in the newspaper. The next owner was called Gerstung, also a farmer who owned the estate until at least 1864. Until 1868 people spoke of the estate, not Thalstein Castle. The von Tümpling family subsequently acquired the property . As early as 1891 she acquired the slope of Jenzig southeast of the property and part of the plateau from the municipality of Wenigenjena for 1,400 marks and had the property stone . Behind the mountain restaurant "Jenzighaus" you can still find a boundary stone with the year 1891.

In 1960 the family sold their property to the VEB Fernmeldewerk Arnstadt, which used it as a holiday home.

After the fall of the Wall , the building was empty. Since it was sold by the Federal Property Office in 2002 , the listed castle has been falling into disrepair. For this reason, the owner, a tax advisor from Jena, was awarded the negative prize "Black Sheep of Monument Preservation" by the Thuringia Monument Association in 2010.

Surroundings

The castle is located between the Wenigenjena and Kunitz settlements , between Jenzig and Saale and only a few hundred meters north of the Erlkönig statue .
