The castle was originally probably a water castle . The foundation walls of the castle date from the 12th century. In 1739 the Unterboihingen Castle was acquired by Wilhelm Ludwig Thumb von Neuburg , whose descendants still own the castle today.

Castle complex

In addition to the actual castle, the facility also includes a former horse stable and a band house, which was previously used to store wine barrels. These barrels were probably closed with an iron band, which is why the building was now called the band house. The band house was also used as a nocturnal property for the coachmen in the 19th century . Festivals have been possible there since 2016.
