Exhibitions
In the historical rooms of the castle, the living culture of the 16th to 19th centuries is vividly reproduced. Showpieces are the audience hall with its coffered ceiling carved in oak from the late Renaissance , the princely gallery and the precious tapestries from the late 17th century.
The museum also provides impressions of rural and bourgeois life back then. It shows objects from the history of clothing and fashion as well as sumptuously designed ceramic and porcelain products and faience from the 18th and 19th centuries. Constantly changing special exhibitions, lectures, concerts and other events ensure a varied program. The museum is visited by around 60,000 visitors annually.
From the 67 meter high castle tower, which is open from May 1st to September 30th, you have a unique panoramic view of the vastness of the Frisian coastal landscape.
