Schlotzsky's is an American fast-food chain that sells primarily sandwiches and has branches in 36 states in the USA . After the branch in Cologne on Hohenzollernring was closed, the only German branch was on Friedrichstrasse , later on Leipziger Strasse in Berlin . This has now been closed.

The company was founded in 1971 by Don and Dolores Dissman in Austin , Texas . Ten years later, Schlotzky's opened its 100th branch and generated sales of 18 million US dollars . In 1999 sales stagnated at $ 400 million, generated in 760 stores. After posting a loss of $ 11.3 million in 2003, the company filed for bankruptcy in mid-2004 . Schlotzky's shares were then suspended from trading on NASDAQ , and the company was auctioned off. Today it belongs to Focus Brands , a group of fast food chains majority-owned by Roark Capital Group .
