Final locomotive

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Closing locomotives (Slz), traction vehicles working in Switzerland at the end of the train or Q-Lok for short , are single or multiple powered traction vehicles . As closing locomotives, locomotives are transferred to a train station at the end of a train, where they are needed. The transfer of traction vehicles as a tail or as a leader locomotive avoids empty locomotives and saves train paths . A closing locomotive should only exert enough pulling power to move itself. It is coupled to the wagon train and connected to the continuous main air line . Must the locomotive at the end of the train because of largeMoving wagon mass more than its own weight, it is considered a pushing locomotive .

Closing locomotives are given at the end of a train and only develop enough tractive power to move themselves.

The following are to be distinguished from:

  • Push-pull locomotives that transmit impact forces
  • non-working locomotives, which are used as wagons in the train in addition to the locomotive for transfer.

Setting down a closing locomotive takes less time than uncoupling a leader locomotive . However, in the case of a locomotive at the end of the train, it is usually not possible to use a multi-unit control that may be present.

If a locomotive exerts impact forces at the end of the train, it is referred to as a push locomotive. In contrast to locomotives, push trains are not allowed to run on some routes.
