Schmieh is a district of Bad Teinach-Zavelstein .

The place Schmieh is mentioned for the first time in 1320. The meaning of the name has not been passed down. The district area covers a total of 632 ha, of which 468 ha - typical of the Black Forest - are forested. The area is located at heights between 412 and 745 m above sea level. NN. The place was created by clearing a plateau and was settled in the form of a forest hoof village . The village had a primary school until the end of the 1960s. The former coat of arms had the shape of a divided shield silver (or white) and green, three green pine cones placed next to each other on top of each other.

To found the new town of Bad Teinach-Zavelstein , Schmieh contributed over a quarter to the urban area during the regional reform on January 1, 1975; with 150 inhabitants, however, only accounts for a little more than 5% of the total population.
