Karl-Heinz "Heiner" Schmieh (born October 15, 1947 ) is a former German football player and coach .

Career

After "Heiner" Schmieh moved from TSV Flörsheim-Dalsheim to the youth department of Wormatia Worms in 1962, he remained loyal to the club for more than 20 years. In 1965 he moved up to the squad of the 1st team, which was then playing in the second-rate Regionalliga Südwest. In the same year he took part as a national player at the UEFA youth tournament in Germany, and at the tournament in Yugoslavia a year later as well. He had his first appearances for the 1st Worms team in the 1966/67 season and was henceforth a regular player in the Worms team. When the Regionalliga Südwest was dissolved in 1974, they qualified for the newly introduced 2. Bundesliga , from which Wormatia Worms, however, was relegated after one season. After the club had narrowly missed promotion in 1975/76 (failure in the promotion round after winning the championship in the 1st Amateur League Southwest), they rose again in 1977 and continued with Heiner Schmieh as a constant in the defense, over several Years in the second highest German league. In 1981 Worms even qualified for the new single-track second division. A year later, however, the descent followed.

Schmieh ended his playing career after relegation from the second division and began a coaching activity at SV Bechtolsheim . This was followed by other amateur clubs from the Worms region, which he coached (VfR Alsheim , TuS Erbes-Büdesheim , TuS Gabsheim ). From 1999 to 2003 he appeared again as a player in the AH team at VfL Eppelsheim .
