Strümpfelbrunn is the seat of the municipal administration and is the capital of the municipality of Waldbrunn in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg .
Geographical location
Strümpfelbrunn is located in the southeastern part of the Odenwald in its red sandstone area on the Winterhauch , an elongated plateau that culminates 2.7 km further west in the highest mountain in the Odenwald, the Katzenbuckel ( 626.8 m ). The district town of Mosbach is 13 km further south and the town of Eberbach is six kilometers to the west.

history
The existence of Strümpfelbrunn can be traced back to 1342 as Strüphilburnen as the main town of the Zwingenberg rule . In 1521, Emperor Charles V granted the town the privilege of holding a fair. The name of the Alte Marktstrasse still reminds of this right.
After the Thirty Years War ten of 26 houses had burned down. From the maximum of 73 Jews in 27 families in 1860, the number decreased to five Jewish families in November 1938, at the time of the Reichspogromnacht . These emigrated or were murdered in extermination camps .
On January 1, 1973, Strümpfelbrunn and four other communities formed the new community of Waldbrunn.
