Stürzenhardt is a district of Buchen (Odenwald) in the Neckar-Odenwald district ( Baden-Württemberg ).
Geographical location
Stürzenhardt is located in the Odenwald , about five kilometers northwest of the core town of Buchen on a plateau west of the Morretal . At 442 m above sea level NHN , it is the highest district of Buchen.
history
Stürzenhardt originated as a high medieval clearing hamlet and was first mentioned in a document in 1368 as "Stirzelnhardt". The manorial power lay with the Amorbach monastery , from where the place was lent variously until 1642, for example 15. – 17. Century to the Rüdt von Collenberg . Until secularization , the state ruled with the Electorate of Mainz . In 1803 Stürzenhardt came to the Principality of Leiningen and in 1806 to the Grand Duchy of Baden .
From 1935 to 1945 Stürzenhardt was incorporated into Steinbach . The incorporation to Buchen took place on December 1, 1971.
In terms of church, Stürzenhardt was a Catholic branch of Buchen. In 1795, the St. Isidor branch chapel was built. In 1871 he moved to the Catholic parish of Steinbach.

In a half-split and divided shield in front a golden crown in red, behind in blue a silver lily, below in blue a red-armored, red-tongued silver eagle. - The crown and lily are reminiscent of the Amorbach monastery, the eagle of the princes of Leiningen.
Economy and Infrastructure
Stürzenhardt is an agricultural place. There are (as of the end of 2014) three full-time farmers remaining who farm most of the municipal area. A manufacturer of herbal elixirs is also based here. However, around 90 percent of the workforce commute to Buchen.
