Until secularization , the state ruled with the Electorate of Mainz . In 1803 Stürzenhardt came to the Principality of Leiningen and in 1806 to the Grand Duchy of Baden .

From 1935 to 1945 Stürzenhardt was incorporated into Steinbach . The incorporation to Buchen took place on December 1, 1971.
