Eberstadt is a district of Buchen (Odenwald) in the Neckar-Odenwald district ( Baden-Württemberg ).
Geographical location
Eberstadt is located in building land , about six kilometers southeast of the core city of Buchen.
history
Documented Eberstadt was first mentioned in 1285 and came to 1408 in the sole possession of the noble family of Rüdt of Collenberg . This built around 1380/90 the castle as Wasserburg , which got its present appearance to the 1755th
In the 1550s, the Reformation also reached Eberstadt. The church was built in 1717. The place was in the Franconian knight circle .
In 1806 Eberstadt came to the Grand Duchy of Baden . On January 1, 1975 it was incorporated into Buchen.

Eberstadt stalactite cave
In December 1971, during blasting work in a shell limestone quarry, the Eberstadt stalactite cave was discovered, which was open to the public until 1973 and is a tourist attraction.
