The snail chapel is a Protestant church building in Fischbachtal - Billings .

nature

It was built in 1967 based on plans by Hermann Fautz and Otfried Rau. It got its name because of its shape reminiscent of a snail shell. The entrance that opens up is intended to "draw the viewer into the interior of the chapel in order to offer him protection and reflection."

In 1971 the architects were awarded the sponsorship prize of the Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry for their design .
