Schneider Bridge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schneiderbrücke is a bridge in the municipality of Mariazell in Styria . The State of Vienna is responsible for their preservation .

History and description

When the City of Vienna acquired land for the construction of the Second Viennese Spring Water Pipeline , the Liezen District Commission , which was responsible for clarifying matters relating to water law at the time, obliged it to maintain roads and bridges, among other things. The bridge is the only way to get to Weichselboden and thus to numerous spring catchments of the Vienna high spring water pipeline.

The Schneiderbrücke, built in 1957, consisted of pipe culverts, with which there was always the risk of a blockage . In 2011 it was replaced by a new building, and it was opened to traffic in November of the same year.

In the sixth meeting of the Vienna City Council , an unscheduled expenditure of 700,000 euros was approved for the new construction of the Rechenbrücke and Schneiderbrücke in Weichselboden, a cadastral municipality of Mariazell.

The new, 7.0 meter long and 3.95 meter wide bridge structure was designed as a frame that is open at the bottom.
