History and infrastructure

St. Leonhardt im Weichelboden, lith. Around 1830, JF Kaiser, Graz

The Salzatal is so narrow here that the historic Eisenstrasse ( Hochschwab Strasse B 24) has to turn into a northern side valley for about five kilometers ; the small pass is called Hals and is 830  m above sea level. A. about 150 m above the valley floor of the Salza.

The population has decreased in recent decades, so the school closed in 1980. In 2000, the parish founded in 1774 was one of the first to be dissolved in the diocese and the former parish church was converted into a subsidiary church of the Gußwerk parish.

In 1984 all districts of the community were connected to the Gußwerk sewage treatment plant . In September 1996, an arsenal with 180 boxes that had been set up by the USA after the Second World War was discovered in Hell, which also contained provisions and medical supplies and which had been forgotten.

In 1991 there were floods and mudslides in the Weichselboden and three neighboring towns .
