Schotsch is a German family name .

Origin and meaning

Originally probably originated in Flanders , Schotsch means "Scottish" or "coming from Scotland" in Dutch. The name can be found from 1432 in the local family book of Großlasseln and increasingly in many other settlements of the Transylvanian Saxons . With various waves of emigration from Transylvania , the name reached all over the world, especially the USA and Canada, Germany and Austria. In today's Romania , the Schotsch family name is still very common.
