Schreiberteich is the name of a stagnant body of water in Wernigerode am Harz . The renatured pond was part of the 2006 State Horticultural Show of Saxony-Anhalt.

The pond is home to the majority of Wernigerode's duck population . It serves the locals as a place of relaxation and was included in the public park after the state horticultural show .

history

The pond, which dates back to the Middle Ages, was used for fishing in the county of Wernigerode and to supply the Counts of Stolberg with fish. The pond was named after the owner of the Seigerhütte not far from the pond , which was built in 1511, Heinrich Schreiber.
