Thrust bridge
A shear bridge is a movable bridge with a horizontally movable track. The carriageway is retracted lengthways to clear the way for ships.
There are several such bridges in Sweden and Norway. One example is the Ultunabron south of Uppsala in Sweden .
There is also such a bridge in Saint-Malo ( France ), as well as near Leiden in the Netherlands .
In Germany there is a push bridge for pedestrians in Kiel , right next to the folding bridge on the Hörn . However, it is only moved as a replacement during maintenance of the folding bridge.
'Sliding bridge' should not be confused with 'bridge insert'. The latter is a construction process: the new bridge will not be built at its future location, but just next to it. After the old bridge has been demolished, the new one is pushed to its final location on rails using hydraulics. So z. B. avoids an interruption of a railway line for weeks or months (for details see bridge # production ).
