School Sta. Christiana Frohsdorf
The Sta. Christiana Frohsdorf is a Catholic private school with public rights on Wiener Neustädter Straße in Frohsdorf in the market town of Lanzenkirchen in the Wiener Neustadt-Land district in Lower Austria . The former monastery and school building is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
In August 1854, the Metz School Order came to Austria at the invitation of the Count of Chambord Henri d'Artois , who resided in Frohsdorf Castle, to found a school for the children of the French colony present in Frohsdorf and for the girls in the village. The building was erected in 1854 as a school building. At first the school was a boarding school for girls and was run by the sisters until 1938. The National Socialists expropriated the school building from the sisters. After the war from 1945 onwards, the building served as a shelter for the homeless and as quarters for Russian soldiers. The school association Institut Sta. In 1987 Christiana took over the management of the site from the order. For this purpose, the order gave him the properties with the buildings in the form of a portfolio contract. 750 pupils are taught by 100 teachers.
architecture
The representative three-storey, hook-shaped facility stands on a hillside. The street front has a shallow gable projection. The facades show themselves in a simple early historical structure. A side entrance is accessible via a bridge. A similarly designed two-storey cubic outbuilding under a hipped roof was connected with a three-storey connecting passage. A long, simple former farm building with a central triangular gable stands apart.
