history
In 1450 the lands on which Smeaton Castle stands belonged to Dunfermline Abbey . They later fell to the Richardson family . The castle buildings are now part of a farm.
architecture
Round towers stood in the courtyard, but only two of them are preserved today. There is also a curtain between them. These are the two western towers. One of the towers has only survived at a reduced height, the other has four floors and an attached stair tower with a square floor plan.
There is also a building line, albeit a major change. Your ground floor has a vaulted ceiling .
There are also traces of a moat .
