School on Nordstrasse
The building of the school on Nordstrasse , before 1945 called Volksschule am Holzhafen or also called Holzhafenschule , in Bremen , Walle district, Steffensweg district , Nordstrasse 349, was built in 1910 according to plans by building director Wilhelm Knop and Max Fritsche. This building has been a listed building in Bremen since 1984 .
The school was initially named after the neighboring Holzhafen from 1891 and from 1945 after Nordstrasse.
history
This three-storey elementary school from 1910 was planned and realized in the style of the turn of the century by the Building Inspection Bremen (later the Building Department Bremen ). The building in a U-shape with a hipped roof has a red brick facade. A side gable with a clock characterizes the simple building.
In 1910 the school had 17 classes and around 800 students. After 1919 there were still 600 students.
During the Second World War , security units were also temporarily stationed at the school. After 1945 a primary school was housed here.
Currently (2017) in the three-course elementary school as an all-day school in 12 classes, 210 pupils are taught by 14 teachers. The school cooperates with the surrounding kindergartens.
