history

The first school in Alt-Aumund is said to have been built before 1721. The Alt-Aumunder School was subordinate to the Church of Lesum. The school was first mentioned in 1753. In 1786, at the corner of Grenzstrasse and Bergstrasse (today Aumunder Heerweg / Borcherdingstrasse), the second Aumund schoolhouse was built as a half-timbered house for around 300 children.

The single-storey, simple, listed third school building made of brick with a gable roof and profiled eaves cornice was built for the church in Alt-Aumund around 1845 in the classicism and historicism era . The floor plan and the facade changed as a result of renovations. It served as a school until 1906/07, then as a residential building.

A fourth schoolhouse was built in 1863 on a neighboring property, which was given two more classrooms in 1891. Today there is a Red Cross station in this brick building .
In 1875 an independent Aumund church was founded in Aumund , which erected its church building by 1877.
In 1906 the school community built a two-story, eight-class, now fifth school building north of the Aumund church. This now state school Alt-Aumund has been called Schule Aumund since 1953 and today (2018) Primary School Alt-Aumund . It replaced the third school.

Today (2018) the third school building is used as a residential building.
