Church Alt Aumund Bremen

The Aumunder Church , or Old Aumunder Church , is the church of the parish of the Bremen Evangelical Church in Bremen - Vegesack , Aumund district .

history

The neo-Gothic , red stone-faced step hall church was built from 1876 to 1877 according to plans by the Oldenburg building councilor Ludwig Wegen after the establishment of the parish in Aumund, which was independent until 1939 and belonged to the Prussian province of Hanover . The hall of the church is divided into three naves with six bays each by slender wooden supports and closed off to the east by a round choir . The square west tower made of bricks has an octagonal, copper-covered tower spire, which is decorated at the four corners by fial turrets . There are four clocks between the turrets.

Inside

The painting of the triumphal arch at the end of the choir shows Christ enthroned, flanked by angels and Moses and Paul on the side . The ornamental paintings of the choir vault from 1909/1910 in glue paint technique come from the Hanoverian church painter Karl Bohlmann (1877–1929), who also painted the St. Michael Church in the neighboring village of Grohn. This painting was painted over in 1952 by the painter Hermann Oetken from Delmenhorst . The restorer Matthias Seefried has exposed the original painting again and reworked it by means of point retouching. This work was awarded the 2010 Bremen Monument Preservation Prize.

Monument protection

In 1977 the Aumund Church was placed under monument protection.
