The term school knowledge describes that knowledge that is taught in schools according to curricula . School knowledge mainly consists of down-to-earth learning content, arithmetic , writing , basics in natural and social sciences and foreign languages .

School knowledge does not consist of more in-depth units of specific scientific disciplines, but is based on a general education .

Colloquially , the term sometimes has a derogatory connotation , since school knowledge has the reputation of being diffuse, memorized knowledge that the student has not internalized himself.
