The Schulz-Kirchner Verlag GmbH deals with the publication of printed products for medical and therapeutic themes. It was founded in 1984 with headquarters in Idstein , Hesse . In the first few years he published scientific literature with a focus on economics , history and social issues. At the end of the 1980s, Schulz-Kirchner Verlag gradually oriented itself towards health . With the takeover of the production and publication of the two specialist magazines Ergotherapy and Rehabilitation , the communication organ of the German Association of Occupational Therapists (DVE), and Forum Logopädie, Notification body of the German Federal Association for Speech Therapy (dbl), the foundation stone was laid for a realignment of the program profile.

Today Schulz-Kirchner Verlag is a media company with 18 permanent and several freelance employees. The range includes around 500 previously published book titles. Around a quarter of this is also produced as an e-book . The publisher publishes around 30 new publications per year. The main target group for the specialist publications are therapeutic professional groups in the fields of occupational therapy , speech therapy and physiotherapy .

A significant part of the publications is aimed at professionals in training, studies, teaching and work. In addition, the publisher publishes numerous monographs on thematic focuses in the field of health therapy, which address therapists, doctors, parents, students, carers, relatives and those affected with their respective specialist topics.

Cooperations

In addition to working with authors, Schulz-Kirchner Verlag also works with professional associations, universities and foundations. These include the German Association of Occupational Therapists (DVE), the Swiss Association of Occupational Therapists (EVS), the Professional Association of Occupational Therapists Austria, ergoaustria , the German Federal Association for Speech Therapy (dbl), the German Society for Speech Therapy (dgs), the Fresenius University , the PFAD Federal Association of Foster and Adoptive Families , the Foundation for the Welfare of Foster Children , the Evangelical Association for Adoption and Foster Child Placement of the Rhineland and the 3rd Age University .

In order to promote the academization of the therapeutic professions in Germany, Schulz-Kirchner Verlag is donating - in cooperation with the respective German professional associations in occupational therapy and speech therapy - two science prizes:

  1. The Ergotherapy Prize in cooperation with the German Association of Occupational Therapists (DVE). The aim of this joint initiative is to promote and support empirical approaches to a theoretical / practical concept of occupational therapy.
  2. The dbl research award in cooperation with the German Federal Association for Speech Therapy (dbl). It is intended to draw attention to speech therapy research and promote speech therapists who work scientifically.

The award-winning works are published by Schulz-Kirchner Verlag.
