Shot resistance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shot resistance is a desirable property in animals, especially in hunting dogs , service dogs and guard dogs as well as in hunting , police , cavalry and training horses and army horses in general. A bulletproof animal should react as little as possible to bangs and shots .

A certain shot resistance should be expected of every healthy and nerve-proof dog. It is necessary for young dogs to get used to loud noises slowly . In breeding associations , the shot resistance is documented by tests. In the horse trade , checking the shot resistance can be part of the purchase inspection .

Resistance to firing should often be achieved in dogs by regularly shooting in the immediate vicinity of the dog in early education. However, it is unclear whether bullet resistance is actually a question of the stamping or the training.

Further use of the term

In addition to the meaning in behavioral biology, the term bulletproof or bullet resistance is also used to describe the properties of firearms and their attachments. Resistance to firing is a prerequisite for repeat accuracy and safe aiming, especially for telescopic sights. Line-of-sight testers (also known as collimators ) are used to measure .
