Schwacke list

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schwacke list , or simply Schwacke for short , indicates the approximate residual value of used vehicles on the German market based on the vehicle type, year of construction, equipment and mileage . It was named after Hanns W. Schwacke, the original editor who published the first list in 1957.

The Schwacke list is updated regularly and is an important working basis for commercial and private motor vehicle dealerships. It is available for different types of vehicles, from cars to motorcycles to commercial vehicles . This information has been available digitally since the 1990s - on the Internet , as data delivery or in the form of software applications.

In addition to the classic Schwacke list for cars, there are now other publications that can be used to determine the residual values of off-road vehicles, vans, two-wheelers, motorhomes, trucks, trailers and boats. The databases of the Internet vehicle markets offer the possibility of determining the value of a vehicle on a daily basis. In addition, special lists are offered, for example for determining paintwork and spare parts values or with information on standard and differential taxation as well as the "Schwacke list of compensation for loss of use".

The publisher of the Schwacke list is EurotaxSchwacke , a subsidiary of the EurotaxGlass’s group with headquarters in Switzerland. Corresponding lists for the residual value of used vehicles are the Argus in France and the Kelley Blue Book in the USA . Many banks use the Schwacke list to determine the maximum mortgage lending value of used vehicles that are assigned as security .
