In 1957 Hanns W. Schwacke published a list in Frankfurt am Main for the first time with the prices of numerous used cars, about which he had collected information in a systematic market observation. In 1961, the Eurotax pioneer Helmuth H. Lederer was the first in Austria to publish price news for used cars, after he had noticed great demand from car dealers and sellers. In 1971 the two merged and a few years later expanded their activities to other countries under the name 'Eurotax'. The blue and yellow Eurotax lists, in Germany the Schwacke list , which contain information about the value of used cars, are particularly well known . The merger in 2000 of the Swiss car market research company Eurotax with the British car market observer Glass`s Information Systems , '' was carried out by the investor group HMTF (formerly Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Inc. ), which had previously bought the company. In 2006 the new large company was acquired by the British private equity company Candover for 480 million euros.
