Schwarz-Weiß Giesenkirchen (officially: Association for physical exercises Schwarz-Weiß Giesenkirchen eV ) was a sports club from the Mönchengladbach district of Giesenkirchen . The first soccer team played for four years in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.

history

The club was founded in 1909 through the merger of the clubs TC Pfeil Giesenkirchen and Sportfreunde Sturm Giesenkirchen . The black and white Giesenkirchen association that was formed briefly resumed as TC Pfeil Giesenkirchen from 1920 on, before returning to its old name. In sporting terms, he was promoted to the then second-class 1st district class Rhine in 1931 . Two years later, the black and whites were runner-up behind Eintracht Munich-Gladbach .

In 1947 the Giesenkirchen team was one of the founding members of the Lower Rhine Regional League , the highest amateur league at the time. The team promptly dismounted from this and found itself in the district class as early as 1950. Two years later, he was promoted to the district class again. After the immediate relegation, the black and white did not return to the district class until 1956. Six years later, he was promoted to the national league.

The renewed relegation from the national league followed in 1964, before the club said goodbye to the lower divisions. In 1981 VfL Giesenkirchen merged with DJK TuRa 05/07 Giesenkirchen to become DJK / VfL Giesenkirchen . This club produced a German national player , Fatmire Alushi (née Bajramaj) .
