Dismantling in the 21st century

The Schwarzachtobel quarry has 2 storage layers. The first bearing is 2 meters thick and the second bearing is 4 meters thick. The raw blocks are dimensioned in formats of 10 to 25 tons using pneumatic drilling rigs . But larger formats can also be produced. After drilling, the holes are filled with separating cement and the desired breaking point is created. The detached raw block is removed from the rock with a 52-ton excavator and loaded onto a low-loader for further processing.

Schwarzacher whetstones

The Schwarzach whetstone production , the oldest and once flourishing branch of industry, goes back to the 17th century.
