Manufacturing and texture

Black plate consists of unalloyed steel and is annealed in an open fire or box. It gets its dark appearance through reaction with the ambient air. In hot rolling, black plate is produced in thicknesses of 1.5 mm and more. Cold-rolled black plate, on the other hand, can be produced with a thickness of 0.4 to 1.5 mm thinner and with a better surface finish.
