Black colony

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Black Colony is a former workers' settlement in Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte , Troisdorf . It was created in 1912, shortly after the Cologne entrepreneur Louis Mannstaedt relocated his rolling mill from Kalk , now a district of Cologne, to the ironworks of Sieg-Rheinischen-Hütten AG in Troisdorf. Other settlements were the Red Colony and the Casino Colony. It was built in two construction phases 1912 to 1914 and 1920 to 1922 according to the design of the Cologne architects Eugen Fabricius and A. Hahn.
