The Black Castle is in the Oepfershausen district of the town of Wasungen in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

history

At the beginning of the 18th century there was already the Auerochssche Schloss in Oepfertshausen , which was demolished in 1800.

The Black Castle, built in 1708, emerged from its farm yard. The community acquired this in the 20th century and developed it into the center of the village. After 1990 it was extensively restored. In addition to a few residential units, various event rooms, the municipal administration and a nature-active museum are housed there.
