Auerochs Castle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Auerochs'sche Schloss was in Oepfershausen , a district of the town Wasungen in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

history

Hardly any information is available about the property. 1747, there were three in manors and the summer residence of the noble family of bison . The aristocratic family died out in 1731 and the estate went to rule . It has not yet been possible to clarify why the castle was described as fun.

This lock, also called the bower, was demolished in 1800; Only a relief plate with the coats of arms of the Auerochs and von der Tann families remained .

Another contemporary witness from the 18th century is the Black Castle , which belonged to the farm yard of the former castle. The municipality acquired this castle in the 20th century. It is now the center of the village. Traditions are maintained in it. In 1990 it was restored and medical practices and the municipal administration are housed in it.
