The Swedish Tower is located on the southwest side of Mainau Island , near the wine trail and the arboretum .

"1558" is written above the entrance to the tower. This leads to the assumption that the slender Sweden Tower was built in the 16th century as a watchtower towards the mainland. However, the pyramid roof and the wood paneling date from the 19th century. The coat of arms of the Teutonic Order and Commander Georg von Gemmingen can also be found on the tower. In the Thirty Years War , Swedish troops occupied the island and stole everything except for a cross (Swedish cross).

Although it was built much earlier, the name Swedish Tower comes from the two-year occupation by the Swedish troops from 1647 to 1649. The building is currently not accessible to visitors.
