Swedish Glass School

The Swedish Glass School ( schw: Riksglasskolan ) is a training center in Sweden focused on glass , design and entrepreneurship . The school is located right next to the world-famous Orrefors glassworks in the town of the same name in the center of the Småland region known as the Kingdom of Crystal .

Mostly Scandinavian students study at the school, but the training is open worldwide.

history

Until the 1950s, glassblowers were mainly trained as apprentices in the hut . Around 1960 the training was formalized and more theoretical content was added. In 1969 Nybro Municipality took over responsibility for training. In 1979 the school moved to new premises, the students live in the dormitory right next to the school.
