Architect Heinrich Müller planned the rear extension from 1884 with the stairwell and the side extension from 1889 with two rooms by architect Hermann Deetjen. The jewel on the roof triangle was attached in 1886.

On a board on the gable is a basic concern of the park founders: “What citizenship can do for us, this house here shows everyone. Take readers, take an example. ”Since 1866, the Bürgerpark was laid out according to plans by Wilhelm Benque and expanded and maintained with many donations. The Schweizerhaus was also built with donations amounting to 1,500 gold thalers ; a third came from the money and exchange broker Heinrich Christian Dieckmann.
