The Swiss Actuarial Association (SAV) is a professional association of Swiss actuaries . The association was founded in 1905 under the name Association of Swiss Actuaries and is based in Zurich .

activity

The SAV is a full member of the Actuarial Association of Europe (AAE) . Although Switzerland is not a member of the EU, the SAV was able to achieve through a special agreement that the Swiss actuarial association has the same rights as the other European associations. In principle, actuaries are usually better known abroad than in Switzerland. President is Klemens Binswanger, Managing Director Holger Walz.

Purpose of association

The association coordinates the training of actuaries and pension insurance experts and makes recommendations to prospective actuaries. Further training, professional guidelines and compliance with professional standards are further areas of responsibility of the SAV. The SAV drafts opinions on draft laws, represents the interests of actuaries within the companies and ensures that actuaries are protected.

membership

In 2009 the SAV issued new guidelines for the admission of members. The following prerequisites must be met for membership (not cumulative):

  • University degree in Actuarial Science or Actuarial Sciences
  • Federal diploma as pension insurance expert
  • Degree with a basic mathematical or scientific training

Membership is also open to other applicants under certain conditions (scientific work, ten years of experience in actuarial mathematics).

Young actuaries

The interest group of young actuaries wants to promote networking among young actuaries and support those interested in training to become actuaries.
