Career

Tai Tzu-ying won bronze at the East Asian Games in women's singles in 2009. In the same year she finished second at the Vietnam Open. She also came second in the 2010 Singapore Super Series .

Since then, she has continuously increased in the world rankings and reached the top 10 in the world rankings for the first time at the end of January 2013 thanks to her success at the Malaysian Open. After a few tournament successes, she took first place in the world rankings for the first time in December 2016 from the Spaniard Carolina Marin . At the end of April, she celebrated her first title at the Asia Championships 2017, winning the sixth tournament and 21st game in a row at the Superseries level and thus further distance the competition.
