organization

The company has three offices across Switzerland that have comprehensive, public documentation and libraries . These are located in Lausanne , Lugano and Zurich , where the association is also based.

The company is organized in the form of an association under Swiss law . Its highest body is the general assembly . It takes place once a year. In particular, it is responsible for the election of the board of directors and the president, the handling of proposals from the members, the approval of the annual accounts and the annual report, the determination of the membership fees and the resolution on the revision of the statutes.

The board forms the management body of the association. It currently consists of eight voluntary members and is composed of representatives from the three interest groups Scientific Advisory Board, people with MS and regional groups as well as personalities from business, media, science, culture and politics who are interested in multiple sclerosis. In particular, the board determines the long-term overall strategy, represents the association externally, appoints the director and issues the regulations for the association's bodies.

The operational management is taken over by the management. Together with the departments and employees under its control, this forms the professional organization of the MS Society.

In parallel to the professional organization, there is also a volunteer organization made up of almost 60 regional groups. These are an autonomous part of the MS society and organize, among other things, social gatherings, cultural events, excursions, visiting and driving services as well as sports or leisure groups.

In addition, the association has other, specific bodies . This includes the Scientific Advisory Board, which has a maximum of thirty members and consists of proven experts such as doctors, specialists and scientists in the field of multiple sclerosis. Another such body is the MS Resonance Group, which consists of people with MS within the MS society and works on topics and questions relating to life with multiple sclerosis. The three-person regional group commission forms the link between the regional groups and the professional structure and takes on the coordination of the interests of the regional groups. Another body is the Social Policy Commission. This advocates the interests of those affected and disabled at the political level.
