Swiss Association of Consulting Engineering Companies

The Swiss Association of Consulting Engineering Companies USIC (fr. Union suisse des sociétés d'ingénieurs-conseils , it. Unione Svizzera degli Studi Consulenti di Ingegneria ) is the employers' association of Swiss planning companies. Civil, electrical and building technology engineers as well as geologists are represented. She represents the corporate interests of the planning industry in the fields of business, politics, society and the environment. It promotes the public acceptance of technical projects in terms of holistic and ecological responsibility and is committed to high quality of services. She is also involved in national and international professional and business organizations.

tasks and goals

The association represents the professional political and economic interests of its independent, advisory and planning members.

This happens in particular through:

• Informing the public about the meaning and value of independent advice and planning in the fields of engineering and the value of the work of engineers for the benefit of society and the improvement of the quality of life.
• Promotion of independent advice and planning, taking into account the interests of the environment and quality of life.
• Information and influence in political decisions.
• Promotion of training and further education in the entire engineering sector and the anchoring of the professional profile
• Promotion of the professional exchange of experiences.
• Advising association members as employers and independent, freelance entrepreneurs.
• Carrying out professional liability insurance for members

Members

The usic unites companies that are independently active in the project planning and consulting sector (all areas of engineering or in other technical, technical-economic or scientific fields). Individual membership is not possible (except for former members of the predecessor association ASIC ). The around 900 member companies of usic with almost 11,000 employees achieve an annual fee turnover of over CHF 1.7 billion. This corresponds to an estimated 40% of the total engineering-related turnover in the construction sector. They must be represented by at least one personal representative who acts as sole owner, partner or manager.

history

USIC emerged from the ASIC (Association Suisse des Ingénieurs-Conseils). ASIC was founded in Lausanne in 1912. In 1997, the ASIC and the USSI (Association of Larger Engineering Offices ) merged with a simultaneous name change to USIC . In addition, the statutes were changed (change from personal to corporate membership). In 2000 it merged with the SBHI , the association of building technology engineering offices . In 2006 the foundation bilding was established for the targeted promotion of young talent.

In 2012 the usic celebrated its 100th anniversary.
