Economiesuisse ( brand: economiesuisse) is an umbrella organization for the Swiss economy .

This is the largest umbrella organization of the Swiss economy with around 100,000 companies of various sizes with a total of two million employees. Economiesuisse is made up of 100 industry associations, 20 cantonal chambers of commerce and individual companies.

history

It was founded on September 15, 2000 in Lausanne . As an association of Swiss companies, it emerged from the Swiss Trade and Industry Association (suburb) and the wf, Society for the Promotion of the Swiss Economy . The name is composed of the French words “économie” (economy) and “suisse” (Swiss).

organization

The organization sees itself as a representative of the interests of the economy in the political process, it represents the affiliated members on both national and international level. As a lobby organization, Economiesuisse tries to exert influence on parliament . Traditionally, the association represents business-liberal concerns: more personal responsibility, less welfare state, free trade, lower taxes, less intervention by the state.

Heinz Karrer has been President since September 1, 2013 , replacing Rudolf Wehrli . Wehrli's predecessor was Gerold Bührer . Pascal Gentinetta was director until June 18, 2013, and Monika Rühl has been director since September 2014 .
