The Swiss Bar Association (SAV) is the professional organization of independent and self-employed lawyers in Switzerland.
purpose
According to its statutes, the SAV represents and safeguards the reputation, rights and interests of the Swiss legal profession at home and abroad for the independence of the legal profession . It promotes the theoretical and practical further training of its members and contributes to perfecting the law and the administration of justice. It establishes and maintains a collegial relationship among its members and promotes relationships among the cantonal lawyers' associations. He maintains relationships with lawyers 'associations in other countries and with international lawyers' organizations that pursue similar goals. He represents the Swiss legal profession vis-à-vis the federal authorities and international organizations.
The SAV has issued professional rules that are binding for its members and supplement the statutory regulations.

The SAV currently has 11,010 members, 3,487 of whom are women.
